TML holds annual Poly Awards

Total Malawi Limited (TML) held its annual Polytechnic Awards on 11th July 2019 at the Malawi Polytechnic’s main campus in Blantyre.

An event that has been held since the 1970's, the Polytechnic Awards normally seek to recognize outstanding students in the fields of science and engineering. Speaking at the event Total Malawi's Managing Director, Salamata Ball, encouraged all awardees to add knowledge to their hard work.

“It is not enough for you to be top performers and think that because of the success you have now you will also perform outstandingly in the workplace. There is need to add new knowledge to what you already know because the workplace is constantly evolving and you may find it difficult to cope if you just trust in what you know and refuse to learn new ways of doing things,” she advised.

The Polytechnic is a constituent college of the University of Malawi and the event was graced by the presence of the College Principal Professor Grant Kululanga and Vice Principal Nancy Chitera. Acknowledging Total's sponsorship of the awards Principal Kululanga extended gratitude for the initiative.

“We appreciate the relationship we have with Total and the initiative that they have been continuing throughout the years. What we have here are students that have high grades and so are the cream of the crop and this gesture will assist them to further their education,” he said.

Each student received a cash award of K328,000 which is intended to go towards school fees and much needed school materials like computers and books. The awards are part of TMLs corporate social responsibility strategy.
