TotalEnergies Malawi has partnered with the University of Malawi to promote human resource development by providing scholarships every year to the Best Students in the faculties of Engineering and Commerce at The Polytechnic.
It is TotalEnergies Malawi’s firm belief that apart from donations and awards, any responsible organisation should invest towards the long term development human resources in the communities we are doing business.

Road Safety for children
Every year TotalEnergies Malawi donates road safety equipment to some accident prone primary schools in the country to enable pupils cross the roads to and from school safely as part of the sustainable development activity. TotalEnergies Malawi has been working with the National Road Safety Council of Malawi (now under the Road Traffic and Safety Services) to identify schools that have experienced road accidents involving pupils as they cross the roads.
We believe that the future of any country relies on its children, hence the initiative.

TotalEnergies Malawi with funding from TotalEnergies Foundation installed solar equipment in six of the Sant Egidio DREAM Centres, the first was at Mtengo wa Nthenga in 2013. The installation of the solar systems provides sustainable power to Dream Centers and Community of Sant’Egidio Children Centres at Balaka, Namandanji, Kapire, Mtendere, Phalula, Nyanyala, Kapeni and Machinjiri. Sant Egidio Dream Centres provide HIV/AIDS counseling, treatment and nutrition to the poor population for free.
Food Security
TotalEnergies Malawi limited through its sustainable development programs has responded to floods and El Nino-driven drought that has affected almost half of Malawi population. The entire country is in the grips of severe drought, about 6.5 million people are expected to be food insecure between now and early 2017 and years ahead, when the next harvest come in and the lean season ends. Under winter farming program, TotalEnergies Malawi has distributed maize and beans seeds to 500 families who lost their crops due to floods along the Limpasa River valley in Nkhatabay district.
Health
As part of its social responsibility, TotalEnergies Malawi limited has fully rehabilitated and equipped a maternity wing at Montfort hospital in Nchalo in 2016. This is part of the TotalEnergies Malawi’s efforts to support safe motherhood in the country where current national maternal death stands at 680 deaths per 100000 live births. The rehabilitation involved panting of wards, installing tiles in labor wards , buying mattresses and bed sheets sets and renovating sanitary facilities.
